Charles Feldman, the producer, tells this story:
I lost at gin rummy with Alexander Korda one evening, and mailed him a check next day.
It was written in red ink, and accompanied by this note: “Dear Alex: You will see that this check is written in blood.”
A few nights later Korda lost to me. The next day I received a check written in blue ink.
The note clipped to it read “Dear Charlie: Here is my check. Please note it is also written in blood — but be sure to note the difference in color.“ Signed “SIR Alexander Korda.”
